TRAI Puts Restriction On SMS Packs

From 27th September 2011, you will only be able to send maximum of 3000 SMS's per month. All the heavy SMS users will have to restrict themselves from sending texts, as the SMS limit per day will be set to 100 from 27th.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) finally today announced 27th September 2011 as the date of implementation for Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference (Sixth Amendment) Regulations, 2011. to stop the menace of telemarketing SMS's.
Every Access Provider (Telecom/Mobile Operators) shall withdraw before the 26th September, 2011 all telecom resources allocated to a telemarketer except those telecom resources which have been allocated in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.
All the existing SMS packs will not be renewed from the above mentioned date.

It is expected that all mobile operators will scrap the old 500 SMS per day, and introduce new packs 100 SMS per day or 3000 SMS per month.
