Apple iPhone 5S Overview

The iPhone 5S is Apple's latest flagship device. The core design is based on the iPhone 5 with some minor visual tweaks.

The device now comes in three colors - Gold, Space Gray, Silver.
The device has got a new home button. A fingerprint identity sensor is now embedded in the home button. Apple calls it Touch Id.
The Touch Id will enable users to securely unlock the device by just placing their finger on the home button.
In addition to that, the Touch Id will also be used to authenticate app purchases/payments on app store and other places where user authentication is required.

The iPhone 5S continues to use the same 4-inch Retina IPS display of the iPhone 5.

The device has a new 8 megapixels with 1.5µ pixels and ƒ/2.2 aperture.
It also has a dual LED(white, yellow) flash which Apple calls "True Tone flash" as the images will represent the real picture and wont come washed out with the usage of flash.
Apple has also added a Slo-Mo video feature, which captures slow motion video.

The iPhone 5S has two dedicated processors,
  • A7 processor with 64-bit architecture
  • M7 motion coprocessor
Yes, Apple is the first company to introduce the 64-bit architecture to a mobile device. The result is that the iPhone 5S will be significantly faster than the iPhone 5.
The second processor M7, will be tracking user motion and gestures.

The iPhone 5S will be getting iOS 7 right out of the box. The iOS 7 will also be 64-bit OS.
Apple has also confirmed that all the existing 32-bit applications will continue to work on the device.
So the app developers will now have to create two applications, a 64-bit app to utilize this latest feature in iPhone 5S and a 32-bit app to support all other iDevices.

The iPhone 5S will be priced $199, $299 and $399 for 16GB, 32Gb and 64GB respectively.
